Bay Harbour Market hosts talent contest

20 Jun 2014 11:02 AM

Hout Bay's Bay Harbour Market has launched Republica Live! - an acoustic talent contest for live and unsigned amateur singers and musicians.

The winner will receive a live gig opportunity on the KWV Sound Stage, as well as a cash prize.

Republica Live! will be judged by a panel of music industry insiders including Peter Watson, a popular UK guitarist, and renowned bass player Ernest Vialva, who has led numerous competitions and upliftment programmes in the USA. In addition, the market’s music manager, De Etheridge and founder & director, Anthony Stroebel, will be lending their expertise to the contest.

Held over three months, Republica Live! will include live performances, from the entrees who have ‘made the cut’, which will be held every Saturday from 12–3pm, and culminates in the semi-finals and final in August 2014. The competition is open to all ages and genres, the only guideline being, it must be live.

Entry forms are available on www.bayharbour.co.za and are to include a demo performance attached to it. Musicians may also book a live demo slot (Thursdays, 1-3pm) at the market by emailing info@bayharbour.co.za.
