US music exec Amir Windom en route to SA

Award-winning US music executives Amir Windom is on his way to South Africa to host a workshop and industry meet and greet on Thursday, 27 March, at the World of Yamaha in Johannesburg. This pre-symposium workshop is part of the 2014 South Africa Music and Entertainment Symposium to be hosted later this year.

This first workshop event aims to empower established and aspiring South African DJs, agents, songwriters, musicians, producers, managers, publicists, promoters and radio executives with a platform to engage one-on-one with world-class expertise. 
 
Windom will lead a two-hour workshop titled Building Your Personal Brand: Beyond the Mic, exposing participants to some of the winning strategies of establishing successful and sustainable careers in the music and entertainment industry, and building revenue streams beyond the traditional. 
 
Managing careers
 
 Windom has held executive and management positions at record labels such as Atlantic Records, Def Jam Records and Bad Boy Records. He has assisted in developing and managing careers of some of today's biggest stars, such as: the American indie-pop band Fun, TI, Bruno Mars, Lupe Fiasco, B.o.B, Estelle, Trey Songz and Kanye West.
 
Windom is also a television and film music supervisor and has helped create music, scores and creative strategies for major film companies, such as Sony Pictures and LionsGate Films, and movies such as Despicable Me 2, Takers, SWAT 2, Steve Harvey's Think Like A Man - Act Like A Lady, Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too, and Stomp The Yard 2. Windom has also assisted in the creation of global marketing campaigns for brands such as Kodak, Adidas, Coca- Cola and ESPN. 
 
Due to "unforeseeable circumstances", Maurice Slade, who was also to host the workshop, will not be attending.
