Bohemia is an eclectic student watering hole for locals and visitors alike. Founded in 2001, it has since become the centre of attraction in the area. Bohemia caters for all tastes, whether it is a quiet Sunday coffee or a raucous Wednesday night “kuier” or a live music night.

Tings an' Times

Tings an' Times is an establishment inspired by bohemian ideals and permeated by soothing reggae rhythms, catering to both young and old. The restaurant features live performances 2-3 times a week (week days only), from local and international acts with the emphasis falling on original music.

The Bassline

In its 15-year history Bassline has hosted over 3000 concerts featuring many of Africa’s most famous stars and world music icons as well as most music acts that have emerged in South Africa since the 90s. Bassline also provides rehearsal and other facilities for many artists.

Obviouzly Armchair Backpackers & Pub is the funky red building in the heart of Observatory. The décor is eclectic and a throwback from the past. You can feel the musical heritage, having once been the launchpad of most of South Africa's successful bands.

Gandalfs

Gandalf's was chosen as a theme based on the Lord of the Rings, emphasised by the artwork, design of the club and paintings on the walls. The venue consists of two separate dance floors; Gandalf's is the main floor, while R.O.A.R hosts live bands and events.
