SA artist wins at 2015 Grammy Awards
Globe-trotting South African flautist and composer Wouter Kellerman has won a Grammy Award in the category Best New Age Album for 'Winds Of Samsara', a collaboration with composer and music producer Ricky Kej.
“Wow, this is a life-long dream come true – I’m so excited! We wrote the music for Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi and their ideals of love, peace and tolerance, and we were hoping that it would bridge barriers and speak to people across the ocean. This is a sign that we're on the right track, and I’m looking forward to much more,” said Kellerman on winning his Grammy.
Kellerman joins a list of great Grammy award-winning South African artists including Miriam Makeba and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
Kellerman has proved to be one of South Africa’s foremost musicians since launching his debut album ‘Colour’ in 2008. In 2010 he performed at the FIFA World Cup Closing Ceremony to a global television audience of 700-million people, and in 2011 he won the South African equivalent of a Grammy (a SAMA or South African Music Award) for his album ‘Two Voices’.

‘Winds Of Samsara’ was also nominated for two HMMA (Hollywood In Media Awards) in the World Music and New Age categories, debuted at Number 1 on the US New Age Billboard charts (spending 11 weeks in the Top 10) and topped the Radio Airplay Charts in the month of July 2014.
