Tickets for both events are available from Computicket and all proceeds will go to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital.

Ambassadorship programme
These two fundraiser events form part of a wider ambassadorship programme for the hospital that also includes other popular South African personalities such as ProVerb, Thabiso Sikwane, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Azania Mosaka, Theo Kgosinkwe, Ms Cosmo, Mapaseka Mokwele and Muzart lending their names to the cause.
“We are really excited to see our celebrity ambassadors coming on board and using their talents to help us raise funds to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital,” said Vuyo Lutseke, media liaison officer at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital Trust.
Target of R1-billion
The Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital Trust is fundraising to reach a target of R1-billion to build and equip the hospital, as well as train medical professionals to work in it. To date, they have passed the halfway mark, which allowed them to begin construction on the hospital in April 2014. The hospital is expected to open mid-2016.
Lutseke also thanked all the stakeholders who helped make these events happen; Computicket, for waving their tickets fees and selling them on their behalf, media partners SABC, Kaya FM, Primedia and Jacaranda FM who have come on board to assist with promoting the events, as well as Hard Rock Cafe Johannesburg and Pappas Restaurant for hosting these events: “We invite music lovers to join us a for a fun night, while also doing good for our children.”

Adjacent to Wits Medical School
The Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital will be a highly specialised children's hospital that will work on a referral basis across all its centres of excellence. The hospital will be located adjacent to Wits University’s Medical School in Parktown, Johannesburg. This is in close proximity to other medical facilities, and allows for paediatric academic teaching access from the Wits Medical School, maximising operational efficiencies and staffing models. The hospital will employ approximately 150 doctors and 451 paediatric nursing professionals, as well as allied services.
