MTV EMA Best African Act nominees announced

MTV has revealed the first four nominees for the Best African Act in the 2014 MTV EMA. They are  Davido (Nigeria), Goldfish (South Africa), Diamond (Tanzania) and Toofan (Togo).

This year MTV put an EMA nomination in the hands of the fans via social media, allowing them to help select the fifth nominee for Best African Act. 

 

Fans could vote for one of the following artists: 

• Anselmo Ralph
• Gangs of Ballet
• Mafikizolo
• Sarkodie
• Sauti Sol
• Tiwa Savage

 

All the 2014 MTV EMA nominees will be announced and voting will open on 16 September 2014.

 

 

This is the fifth year that MTV has included a Best African Act category in the EMA – previous winners have included 2Face [2005], Freshlyground [2006], D’Banj [2007 & 2012] and LCNVL [2013].

 

The 2014 MTV EMA will broadcast live on MTV on Sunday, 9 November at 10pm CAT from The Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland (pre-show from 9pm CAT).
