Kenya's Sauti Sol wins at 2014 MTV EMA

Kenyan Afro-pop group Sauti Sol has been named the winner of Best African Act at the 2014 MTV EMA, one of the biggest global music events of the year that celebrates the hottest artists from around the world. 

The 2014 MTV EMA will broadcast live from the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on MTV and MTV Base on Sunday, 9 November at 10pm CAT.
 
Sauti Sol now has the opportunity to be voted into the Worldwide Act Award category, the winner of which will be revealed during the 2014 MTV EMA in Glasgow. to vote, go to mtvema.com to help Sauti Sol advance to the final round of Worldwide Act voting to represent Africa as one of 10 international Worldwide Act nominees.
 
Sauti Sol is the first Kenyan act ever to have received this award, beating out fellow nominees Davido, Toofan, Diamond and Goldfish to win the title of Best African Act. Previous winners of Best African Act have included 2Face (2005), Freshlyground (2006), D’Banj (2007 & 2012) and LCNVL (2013). The final list of 10 Worldwide Act nominees will be revealed via mtvema.com on Thursday, 30 October.
